Job Description

This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure track bargaining unit position that reports to the Dean of Arts & Sciences and is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois.  The position begins in August 2024.

 

This position is responsible for teaching 15 credit hours per semester. Courses will include transfer education classes for teacher licensure preparation (e.g., Foundations of Education) designed for students planning to complete a baccalaureate program in Elementary, Middle, or Secondary Education. Classes may be conducted during the day or evening, in a face-to-face setting at any JWCC center or online. This position will serve as lead faculty of the Teacher Education Program, responsible for coordinating teacher observations with k-12 partners through the placement of practicum students and other duties necessary to promote the program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in education or Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in education. Upon hire, the successful candidate must be fully credentialed to teach per the Higher Learning Commission and Illinois Community College Board. Minimum of three years’ experience teaching in a k-12 classroom setting is required. Preference is given to those who hold an Illinois Educator License and have at least three years of experience in the supervision of teachers, development of teacher professional development, or coaching for teachers in the k-12 classroom setting. Experience in classroom observation in a K-12 setting is also preferred. Previous experience teaching full-time or part-time in a community college teacher education program is preferred.

 

SALARY

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
